The first egg hunt

A friend who has a son a year older than Sawyer invited us to an egg hunt and lunch at her house. We've done the giant egg hunts, and they are always a disappointment. The kids fight over the eggs, and frankly, some of the parents aren't much better.

It was a bit chilly, but I knew Sawyer would love it.

The party was all boys ... five 3- and 4-year-olds ... and they had a ball. They played with various toys for awhile and then we ate lunch. Well, the grownups did. The boys were mostly too excited to eat much.

Finally, the eggs were hidden and they were off.

The boys did a good job of finding all the really obvious eggs, but we had to give some hints so they'd look for the ones the dads hid in harder places like the fence, the trees and under the deck.

After all the eggs were found, I thought we might hide them again. But the boys were happy just playing on the swing set.

We played a bit longer inside, ate some cake and then got mad when it was time to go home. He was asleep before we even made it home.
