But we were invited to the class Easter egg hunt this week ... because it had lots of cute photo opportunities.
The egg hunt we took Sawyer to last Easter was a disaster. The one we were going to this year got rained out, so I was excited that Sawyer could do this one with his friends in a smaller setting.
As things tend to go with toddlers, it didn't quite go as I envisioned.
The kids arrived on their preschool rope. A few of them broke formation and bolted to their parents when they saw them.

Sawyer didn't even acknowledge me. Instead, he made a beeline for the fountain in the garden. Luckily, it was dry or we'd have never gotten him away from it.
He quickly realized these eggs were loaded with candy! S C O R E ! ! !
So instead of picking up eggs and putting them in his basket as the other kids were doing, Sawyer was cracking eggs and shoveling candy into his mouth. A proud moment for me.

Mmmm. Eating candy off the grass. Lead the others to the dark side, Sawyer.
He really had no interest in the egg hunt, but the teacher and I finally got him on the right track. He finally complied and filled his basket and my pockets with eggs.

Sawyer was way more interested in just running around than the eggs, especially if he couldn't eat the candy.

When it came time to gather all the kids for a group picture, Sawyer would NOT sit down. I tried to wrangle him, but he jumped back down. Finally, the teacher picked him up and told him to sit with the others.
Obviously, getting seven 2-year-olds to sit still, all look the same direction AND smile is next to impossible.

You invariably get a few good faces and the rest are off in their own world.

And then you have one little boy who decides he's done with the photo shoot and ready to hop down.

And naturally, that little boy would be mine.

Ahh, perfect picture where your son is hopping off the bench, egg going everywhere!! you can see them falling...love it!
