Cousins, cousins

We got a surprise last week! Sawyer's new cousin was born a week early. I managed to get an extra day off from work, so we drove to Hickory early to see baby Camdyn.

Sawyer and I talked about him the whole way there, between singing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" half a dozen times. But when we actually got there, he was pretty uninterested in the baby. He checked him out once and then was off to hug on Grandmother and Uncle Andrew.

We visited at the hospital for awhile and then left to eat lunch. While we were there, Andrew called to see if we'd like to meet him and Peyton (Camdyn's big sister) at the park to play.

Grandmother, Sawyer and I got there first, so we hit the playground for a bit. When Peyton walked up, Sawyer turned and his entire face lit up. His excitement was palpable. He took off running across the playground and when they met, they hugged like they hadn't seen each other in years.

They held hands most of the afternoon, and Peyton told Sawyer that he was her best friend.

It was super hot, but we walked over to the water to feed the ducks. Sawyer was fearless. He fed them out of his hands. Peyton was a little more cautious.

We walked along the nature boardwalk, where Peyton and Sawyer alternated between holding hands and running to get way ahead of us.

And we were excited to see lots of ducklings.

I wish Sawyer and Peyton got to see each other more. They love each other so much (well, it's a love-hate relationship sometimes) and have such a good time playing together. It's great that they relish every moment they have together.
