8 months going on 8

It's official.

My baby is growing up right before our eyes.

In the past two weeks, Sawyer has figured out how to sit himself up from lying down and how to pull up to the couch or coffee table. He's been crawling for awhile, but he is moving now. He still doesn't do it on hands and knees like most kids, but I don't think it slows him much.

He just turned 8 months old, so he's right on target for his age, but I swear, the boy thinks he should be walking. Just a day after pulling up, he started cruising on the couch and coffee table. Ray and I sit behind him to catch him when those wobbly legs give out, but he looks at us like he does NOT need help.

Holy cow, he is like his mama.

He looks so pleased with himself when he stands up; you can see the wheels turning in his head. As if he realizes that being upright equals independence and mobility. It's pretty darn cute.

He's eating all kinds of foods. Haven't found one yet that he wouldn't try. He's figured out how to bite things with his two pearly whites. He's got at least two more teeth just ready to erupt on the top.

We're still working on the drinking bit. He'd rather chew on sippy cups than drink from them. Never would take the bottle. He actually drinks from a regular cup pretty well. Not sure how all that is going to shake out when it's time for weaning.

He's still the same happy-go-lucky baby he's always been. Never met a stranger. Such a smiley boy.

I have not been very good about keeping up this blog, but my goal is to do better here instead of posting random things on Facebook. Feel free to yell at me if I don't stick with it.

Below are some recent photos.

Sawyer's first adventure in a big swimming pool

He loves to help Daddy (and Mama) with their computing, but usually he is a more "hands-on" assistant.

Crawling up and over the bottom shelf on the coffee table is our daily exercise.

Mmmm. More peas, please.

The kid doesn't like shoes. Can he really be my son?

Someone's getting better at taking naps.

The endless teething: EVERYTHING goes in the mouth.
