It's starting to feel a little like fall. A few of the leaves are changing, and our front yard is full of them. Which means Sawyer has hundreds of things to pick up when we go outside.

He loves to investigate everything. Leaves, sticks, acorns, flowers, blades of grass, rocks ... doesn't matter. He picks everything up and studies it intensely before throwing it as far as he can fling it.

Yesterday, the middle school drum line was outside practicing, one of my favorite signs of fall. How many houses come with a built-in band? I love it! When they practice outside, we go outside to hear them. (In a week or two, they'll practice marching down my street for A&T homecoming. Awesome.)
Having the wide-open schoolyard to play is pretty cool, too. Lots of grass and hundred-year-old trees. There was a nice breeze. The sun was getting low in the sky. And neither of us had a care
Sawyer was playing hard. I was working hard trying to capture him in his toddler glory: Running everywhere. Digging in the dirt. Picking up sticks. Inspecting leaves. And of course, laughing.
He is all boy. And I'm so glad.
